Al-Falah Mosque

Al-Falah Mosque

Mosque · Singapore City, Singapore

Masjid Al-Falah is a centrally located mosque in Singapore’s Orchard area, at 22 Bideford Road #01-01, Singapore 229923. Situated just a short walk from Orchard Road and near both Orchard and Somerset MRT stations, it is one of the most convenient prayer spaces for Muslims working, shopping, studying, or staying around Singapore’s main retail district. Unlike many standalone mosques, Masjid Al-Falah is housed within a commercial building, giving it a unique role as a peaceful worship space in the middle of one of Singapore’s busiest urban areas. MUIS describes it as being only about a two-minute walk from Orchard Road and able to accommodate up to 1,500 worshippers.

The mosque has an interesting history connected to the development of the Orchard area. According to Masjid Al-Falah’s official history, it can be traced back to the old Angulia Mosque at Angulia Park, where Wheelock Place now stands. The present Masjid Al-Falah was officially opened on 25 January 1987 by Dr Ahmad Mattar, who was then Minister for Environment and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs.

Over the years, Masjid Al-Falah has grown beyond being only a prayer venue. In 2008, the mosque had its first facelift, improving the layout of its classrooms and facilities. It also began to place stronger focus on Islamic learning in the English language, attracting a diverse congregation from different ethnic and educational backgrounds. In 2015, the mosque underwent a major renovation under the Mosque Upgrading Programme. The upgrade increased its floor space by more than 500 square metres, added more prayer space, improved washrooms and ablution areas, and made the mosque more barrier-free and accessible.

Today, Masjid Al-Falah serves worshippers, office workers, families, youth, and visitors in the Orchard area. It offers daily prayers, Friday prayers, Islamic learning, youth activities, family-focused programmes, zakat collection, and community services. Its location, accessibility, and English-language learning focus make it an important mosque for both local Muslims and Muslim travellers in central Singapore.
