BatterCatch - VivoCity
Casual Dining · Halal certified · Singapore City, Singapore
Cuisines: Western, Seafood
BatterCatch began here. The chain's first outlet opened at VivoCity in mid 2024, launched by Minor Food Singapore, the restaurant group that also operates ThaiExpress and Din Tai Fung locally. Within two years the brand grew to six outlets across the island, but the HarbourFront restaurant remains the flagship, occupying a wide four-unit frontage on the ground floor of the waterfront mall.
The concept is British fish and chips reworked for a casual mall setting. Fish is battered and fried to order, producing a golden crust around flaky flesh, and served with chunky fries. Every plate comes with tartar sauce and guacamole, with a further choice between a house curry sauce and a brown sauce, both made in house. Mushy peas and lemon complete the traditional presentation. Several fish varieties are offered at different price points, from dory at the entry level through haddock and barramundi to halibut at the top of the range.
The menu extends beyond the fryer more than at most fish and chips operations. Fresh oysters are served on ice, the clam chowder is a lighter, clearer version of the dish with a generous portion of clams, and the Fisherman's Pie covers creamy seafood with a browned mashed potato crust. Pan seared fish fillets and a sirloin steak are available for diners avoiding fried food altogether.
The interior follows a beach theme, with a surfboard and lifebuoy at the entrance and neon signage inside. The restaurant sits along VivoCity's ground floor, a short walk from HarbourFront MRT station on the North East and Circle lines, and near the Sentosa Express boarding point. It opens at 11am daily, half an hour earlier than the chain's other outlets, and queues form at dinner time on weekends, so reservations are worth considering.
