LUXE BURGERS Nihonbashi
Casual Dining · Tokyo, Japan
Cuisines: Western
The original home of the LUXE BURGERS & Sunny's Table brand, the Nihonbashi (Ningyocho) outlet is where it all began — opening in February 2020 as a pioneering concept that would go on to become Japan's first halal-certified burger restaurant. Born out of the vision of chef-owner Sani, a Japanese Muslim who spent over two decades mastering French cuisine at some of Japan's most prestigious hotel restaurants — including Hotel de Mikuni, the Mandarin Hotel, and the Westin Hotel — the Nihonbashi outlet is the flagship that put halal gourmet burgers firmly on Tokyo's culinary map.
Situated on the ground floor of the Nihonbashi Kobunacho Building in Chuo City, the restaurant is set in a quiet pocket of the Ningyocho and Mitsukoshimae area — a historic business district flanked by heritage architecture and the grande dame of Japanese department stores. The exterior, cheerfully dressed in the blue, white, and red of the French tricolour, signals the restaurant's French culinary DNA from the street. Inside, the space is cosy, clean, and intimate — warm enough for a casual lunch, relaxed enough for a leisurely dinner.
What sets LUXE BURGERS apart from every other burger restaurant in Tokyo begins with the patty. The kitchen uses 100% halal lamb and 100% halal wagyu beef — both certified by the Japan Halal Foundation — with no mayonnaise anywhere on the menu and no chemical seasonings. Every sauce, dressing, and condiment is made entirely from scratch by the chef, using seasonal organic vegetables sourced directly from local farms. The burger buns are unique — crusty and slightly smoky on the outside, but remarkably soft on the inside — cradling patties that are cooked Teppan-style to a juicy medium-rare finish that showcases the quality of the meat. Signature options include the Double Cheeseburger, the Avocado Cheeseburger, the Truffle Avocado Burger, and the Grilled Chicken with Salsa and Coriander — alongside lamb chops, steaks, hot dogs, sandwiches, and a fully vegan burger for plant-based diners. From February 2022, a halal beef patty option was added to the menu in response to customer demand, giving diners the choice of both lamb and wagyu beef.
Lunch sets offer great value, coming with a complimentary drink. A prayer space is also available on-site for Muslim diners. Walk-ins are welcome, and takeaway and delivery are available. The restaurant was ranked the No.1 most popular halal restaurant in Japan in March 2020 on Halal Gourmet Japan — a distinction that speaks to the impact it made from its very first months of operation.
