Nestled in the verdant mountains of Yangmingshan — Taipei's beloved national park — M&G Family Leisure Farm (梅居休閒農場) is one of Taiwan's most distinctive and serene Muslim-friendly dining destinations, holding a Muslim Friendly Restaurant certification from the Chinese Muslim Association (CMA). What makes this farm so special is that it is far more than just a restaurant: it is an immersive agri-tourism experience where guests can wander through a 1.17-hectare working farm, breathe in the natural phytoncide of the mountain air, and enjoy meals made almost entirely from ingredients grown on the land.
The farm's story is one of gratitude and heritage. Originally an undeveloped tangerine orchard for nearly three decades, the land was inherited by the current owner who chose to share it with the wider community under the spirit of "gratitude, respect, and love." The farm is named after the owner's late elders — combining the characters from the names of Zhu Mei (梅) and Guo Shi-ju (居) — a deeply personal tribute that infuses the entire farm with a sense of warmth and meaning. From the plum blossom avenue that greets visitors at the entrance, to the wisteria, herbs, coffee garden, orchards, moso bamboo, and seasonal fruits and vegetables growing throughout the property, the farm is a rare pocket of living nature within Taipei City.
The restaurant itself is the culmination of this farm-to-table philosophy. M&G's signature offering is a vegetarian potherb hot pot — a beautifully conceived dish using the farm's own organic produce, paired with exclusively crafted appetisers and inventive fruit-and-vegetable dressings that have earned consistent praise from food lovers and epicureans. For Muslim diners, a dedicated curry set is available — made using self-planted vegetables and fruit, served with a special sauce, and designed to be both tasty and wholesome. All Muslim-friendly meals are prepared with care and in compliance with the Chinese Muslim Association's certification standards, making the farm a trustworthy and welcoming stop for Muslim visitors to Taiwan.
Beyond dining, visitors can participate in hands-on agricultural activities, experience the farm's natural ecology, and gaze out over the Taipei Basin from the mountain elevation — a view that is particularly breathtaking at dawn and dusk. The footpaths within the farm, lined with plum blossoms, purple vines, bee plants, vanilla, bamboo, and cherry trees, make for a deeply restorative stroll that is unlike anything found in the urban centre below.
