Islamic Centre of Thailand
Islamic Center · Bangkok, Thailand
The Islamic Centre of Thailand is one of Bangkok’s major mosque and community complexes. The foundation behind it began in 1954 as the Foundation of the Central Mosque of Thailand and later became the Foundation of Islamic Centre of Thailand in 1976. The mosque building was completed in 1984 on Ramkhamhaeng Road in Suan Luang, giving Bangkok a large central facility for worship, education, welfare, and public engagement.
The mosque can accommodate more than 3,000 worshippers and includes two main prayer areas, ablution facilities, an auditorium, reception space, offices, a bookstore, library, food hall, meeting rooms, and community service areas. Architecturally, the building is modern rather than historic, with a hexagonal plan, pointed arches, Arabic calligraphy, and limited ornamentation. Its role is broad: it supports regular prayers, religious instruction, seminars, youth activities, publications, community welfare, funeral services, and outreach work. In Bangkok, the Islamic Centre of Thailand functions as both a mosque and an institutional hub for the city’s Muslim community.
