Masjid Al-Muttaqin, also known as Al-Muttaqin Mosque, is a prominent community mosque located at 5140 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6, Singapore 569844. The mosque serves Muslim residents in Ang Mo Kio and nearby neighbourhoods, offering a convenient place for daily prayers, Friday prayers, religious classes, and community activities.
The mosque has an important place in Singapore’s mosque-building history. According to MUIS and the mosque’s official history, Masjid Al-Muttaqin was the fifth mosque completed under Phase I of the Mosque Building Fund Scheme. Its ground-breaking ceremony was held on 29 April 1979 and officiated by Mr Syed Ali Redha Alsagoff, then Chairman of Lembaga Biasiswa Kenangan Maulud. The mosque was officially opened on 21 September 1980 by the late Mr Rahmat Kenap, Member of Parliament for Geylang Serai.
The name “Al-Muttaqin” refers to pious people who are conscious and mindful of God. This meaning reflects the mosque’s role as a place of worship, learning, and spiritual development. Beyond prayer services, Masjid Al-Muttaqin also supports the wider community through Islamic education, Quran learning programmes, youth initiatives, kindergarten-related activities, and family-focused programmes. Its official website highlights programmes such as Quran literacy for children, tajwid classes for teens, and other learning activities for the community.
Situated close to Ang Mo Kio Town Centre, Masjid Al-Muttaqin remains an accessible and active mosque for residents in the area. With its long history, educational programmes, and community-centred services, it continues to be an important religious and social landmark in Ang Mo Kio.
